Circular Plastics Australia (PE)’s food‑grade rHDPE resin, rFresh‑100, has achieved SCS Global Recycled Content Certification as a 100% post‑consumer recycled resin, marking a significant milestone for Australia’s circular plastics economy.

Issued under the SCS Recycled Content Standard V8.0, the certification independently verifies that rFresh‑100 is manufactured entirely from post‑consumer HDPE packaging collected through Australian kerbside recycling systems. The material is processed using a physical segregation chain‑of‑custody model, providing full traceability from waste stream to finished resin.

This certification builds on US FDA food‑contact compliance achieved last year, which confirmed rFresh‑100’s suitability for food and beverage packaging applications at up to 100% recycled content. Together, these milestones provide both regulatory assurance and independent third‑party verification, giving brands confidence to transition to fully circular, food‑grade packaging solutions.

Independent verification of recycled content
Through its comprehensive assessment, SCS Global Services confirmed that Circular Plastics Australia (PE)’s sourcing, processing and production systems meet all requirements of the SCS Recycled Content Standard, with compliance demonstrated across material qualification, chain of custody, and mass‑balance reconciliation.

The assessment confirmed that:

  • rFresh‑100 is manufactured exclusively from post‑consumer HDPE packaging, primarily milk and beverage bottles collected via kerbside recycling systems
  • Recycled inputs are physically segregated, tracked and verified through audited production systems and SAP‑based traceability
  • Reported production volumes are fully supported by verified recycled‑material inputs, reinforcing the integrity of recycled‑content claims

Manufacturing at scale for food‑contact applications
Produced at Circular Plastics Australia (PE)’s Laverton North facility, rFresh‑100 is designed to support the reliable, large‑scale replacement of virgin plastic in food‑contact applications. With both FDA compliance and SCS recycled‑content certification in place, manufacturers can use up to 100% rFresh‑100 resin while meeting regulatory and recycled‑content requirements.

Supporting a credible circular plastics system in Australia

By combining advanced recycling infrastructure, rigorous quality controls, and independent third‑party certification, Circular Plastics Australia (PE) is supporting the development of a credible, locally integrated circular plastics system. The SCS certification provides assurance that recycled‑content claims are accurate, traceable, and independently verified.

Valid from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, the certification formally recognises rFresh‑100 as “Made with 100% Post‑Consumer Recycled HDPE”, reinforcing confidence in locally recycled, food‑grade plastics designed for genuine circularity.
